Fun Winter Engagement Session

It was cold and cloudy outside the other day, however Beth and Chris were warm and cozy with each other for their engagement shots. We took some down at the Sundial then moved to the mountains for some fun and snowy pics to add to their engagement album.
If you have not seen one of these engagement albums please do yourself a favor and take a look. These custom books are created in-house and printed by us so nobody else will have one as unique as you on your wedding day. Great for your guests to sign!

Beautiful Black and White Imagery

Nothing is more beautiful and timeless than a really well done black and white. There are lots of photoshop plug-ins and filters available and boy do they get over-used. Usually a mediocre image can be made a bit more interesting using one of these gizmos, but nothing takes the place of a great portrait that will be cherished years from now when all the goofy effects are forgotten.
Professional photography means more than fancy equipment or strange filter effects. To be considered a real professional, the image is what counts...and nothing else. I only wish that more so-called photographers would learn about lighting and posing and not put so much emphasis into their equipment or the wacky photoshop stuff they can do to an image. I really fear for our industry because of the lack of skill sets required to claim to be a professional photographer. This once great and sometimes mysterious profession is becoming muddied in mediocrity with the age of digital. My hope is that there will be a return to greatness and the cream will rise to the top once again when the demand for real artistic talent becomes sought after.
OK that is way too much soap box for one blog...just had to get that off my chest.

It's A Boy!

And what cutie too! Love getting those adorable baby images especially when the little one is so stinkin' cute! Having a true professional capture your little one will bring many years of enjoyment. So what are you waiting for...call and schedule a time for your little cherub and you'll be super happy you did, I promise!

Beautiful Baby

Such a lovely little girl! Her grandma made the gown with over 250 hours invested in this beautiful family heirloom. Have you had your family portrait taken for the next generation to have and love?

Just something to think about...

Kids and dogs

So is Santa going to be leaving a "special" gift under the tree this year? If so make it a complete gift by bringing in any new furballs to have their portraits done with their new family for an extra special treat! This would be a great time to have the whole family's portraits done especially if you have some members coming home from far away.

We're Moving!!!!

And we are so excited! This will be our new home after January 1st. It is on the corner of Market Street and Shasta, right across from the old city hall.
We'll be on the second floor and have the coolest studio yet! After being in our present location for more than 10 years we felt the need for a major change.
We'll post some more shots as the time gets closer so you can get a sneak peek at the new digs. We'll have a natural light area and a huge shooting space for large groups and more variety of cool new backgrounds.
We will also be selling off some of our furniture and props so if you are interested give us a call or watch this blog for more info.

Lovely Couple

Had the opportunity to photograph this wonderful couple yesterday and all I can say is 'wow". They have been through so much and you can totally see the love for one another between them. And of course do they not have the cutest doggies! It is always our honor to work with such great folks!

Outdoor Portraits

Just finished this one tonight and what great dogs! Very well-behaved and really cute too! I love working with animals and kids because you just never know what they are going to do.
Does your photographer understand how to find the "light"? We know lighting and we know how to pose you to look your best too!

Cute Little Guy

Another little buddie! He was so good for his session. Made his parents proud!

Commercial Christmas Card

Here's a fun card from the folks at Spectrum Orthotics. Jeff the owner had an idea in mind and new we could pull it off. Good fun stuff and I'm sure his clients will get a kick out of this! We combined several shots into this one image for them

Shasta Senior Guy

Yup, we do senior portraits all year long. So if you had yours done somewhere else and didn't get what you wanted or if you haven't done your session yet we can always provide you with the best images that you and your parents will love. David was a cool kid to work with and we got some fun stuff with his friend as well!

Artsy Maternity Session

We had the pleasure of working with Heather for her first little one. She wanted to create some more artistic imagery and I think we pulled it off quite well. The location was her parents home so that made it even more special for her. Good job Heather!

Crazy Halloween Fun

It's been a busy week with getting ready for the Taste of Home Cooking School Show tomorrow and keeping up with all the orders for seniors and families. We had a very unique experience for Saturday night's Halloween party at the Holiday Inn.
We green-screened the shots for all the fun couples that wanted photos that night. We saw so many fun costumes and met lots of super nice folks. Everyone had a great time and $5000 was given away for the best costumes! Here are a couple shots from the party and the "Joker" won for best costume and he was scary looking! Good job dude!

Enterprise Senior Guy

Robert came in for his studio session earlier and we did his outdoor shots just the other day. He has a great look and was totally fun to work with! Love shooting at the end of the day to get that super sweet light!

Foothill Senior Guy

Justin has a keen sense for fashion. We did our mini session with him and got some fun stuff! Super nice guy-thanks for coming in Justin!

West Valley Gal

We had a great time with Tanisha's session! Love the hat shots we did! She opted for our one hour session and we provided studio AND outdoor images too during her session. Lots of fun for sure.

Yearbook Session

Another session just for the yearbook here. Believe it or not it's not too late to submit an image to your yearbook. Most schools have a deadline, however they will accept images way past that deadline...all you need to do is check with your yearbook advisor and get permission to submit your image. We can email your shot to them usually without any hassle.

Engagement Session

Some fun shots from last night's engagement session with Ashley and Louis. We'll be doing their wedding in November and needed these images for a cool engagement/guest book. If you'd like to see this unique book just come by and take a look! My lovely wife Julia came up with the idea and now we offer it to our wedding clients for booking their wedding with us.
